I ordered an HP server with Essentials not installed. I thought this would be pretty straight forward to install. Brand Representative for Microsoft. The docs made it seem like I should be able to use the Essentials disk to install the hypervisor and after that the full Essentials. However, I didn’t get the option to install the hypervisor, it’s just goes straight to fully installing Essentials.

That’s when I read about customizing the image which didn’t seem right, so I came here;. Haven’t seen the HP version but Does that not work? I’m new to virtualization. Thought I could just follow the docs. I’ll download Hyper-V Server R2 and give that a shot. I’m not sure what you are having an issue with kinda confused by your post to be honest.

But did you install your hypervisor first? If not then you need to download Hyper-v or whatever you are using and install it. Then install your Server OS on top.
